Ramadan Mubarak!
Practitioners of Islam will be observing the month of Ramadan beginning with the new present moon this Thursday. Ramadan is a month of fasting and prayer, reading the Quran, and breaking the daytime fast with family and friends.
I am excited to share that we will be opening our doors for Friday midday prayers during the month of Ramadan. Some local followers of Islam have been looking for a place where they might gather and nurture the possibility of forming a local Muslim congregation.
During this month, we have hopes to host at least one opportunity to gather to learn about Ramadan and the place Ramadan holds in the lives of our Muslim neighbors. We are also hoping that we might gather our UU and Muslim communities together to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr, the final breaking of the Ramadan fast.
If you are interested in learning more or even in attending a Friday midday prayer service, please get in touch with me first. We are all interested in learning more about one another and we want to be sure that we do so mindfully. You can give me a call or text at 518-290-0284 or see my availability at calendly.com/revjoeuucss.
Also, I hope you take a look at today’s (March 17, 2023) update from your New Home Task Force. They continue to work diligently, meeting every week to be sure that we continue to make progress toward our new home.
I want to be sure that you have access to the recent preliminary sketches of what our new home might look like. You’ll find that information here:
- Preliminary sketches from SD Atelier
- Siting of SD Atelier Option B
- Description of options from SA Atelier
- Drawing of siting recommendation from New Home Task Force
May we all enjoy a peaceful and fulfilling Ramadan!
