A Song for the New Year

by Laurie Singer, UUCSS Board President

For the last few years that I’ve served as worship associate for Murray’s year-end poetry service, I’ve closed our worship on a very (to some) sappy note.  What can I say…that’s just how I roll. This year was different of course, and although our poetry service was a rousing success on Zoom, I didn’t feel as though our traditional closing song, “Auld Lang Syne” would work…digitally speaking.

So for all of you sentimental folk, and everyone else who I KNOW misses being together in our sacred space, I offer these closing moments of last year’s service, which include the beautiful Mairi Campbell recording of this beloved song of the new year.

Thank you to all who have participated in our poetry services over the years, with special thanks to Alan Bartenhagen for this recording.  Please click on the blue link below to hear the audio. You can also click on the YouTube link below to see Mairi Campbell performing this song in concert.

Happy New Year to one and all!
