Another Fundraiser is Coming!!!

For the last fundraiser of 2020, the Fundraising Committee is planning an auction. This will be an online event with items available for bid from Friday October 30th through Saturday November 7th. This part of the auction will be open to our members and friends and others from the Saratoga community.

Our auction software will allow up to 750 people to participate. Then on the evening of the 7th there will be an hour long Zoom auction for UUCSS members only with our own auctioneer extrordinaire, Peter Marino. Next week we will make available all the information necessary to write up descriptions of the items you offer for bid, to submit the information along with a photo if the item is an object that can be photographed, and to register to participate in the auction. In the meantime please give thought to what you might offer for the auction.

Following is a list of ideas although it is not all inclusive. If you have an idea and are not sure it is a good choice for the auction, feel free to discuss it with Bev Lawson. Suggestions for goods include art work, jewelry, furniture, antiques, craft items, and gift baskets. Suggestions for services include snow shoveling, landscaping, leading a hike or nature walk, yard cleanup, dog walking, errand running among others. With the coronavirus epidemic, we are not offering personal services such as massage or other activities (group meals for example) that put people in close proximity to each other. Other ideas include offering your camp for a weekend retreat, computer help, offering a Zoom class for cooking, DIY, fitness or any other activity. Or you might have some other intriguing ideas of your own.

For the UUCSS members only Zoom auction, the committee will select from the submitted items those most appropriate for our church members only. Be sure to read next week’s Journey Well for the specific information you will need to donate items/services and participate in the auction.

With all the technology needed to put on such an event, our Fundraising Team has grown and now includes Jeff Ehrenberg and Rev Joe along with Peter Marino and Cynthia Eletto.
