Attention! Can You Sew? We Need You!

Do you have a sewing machine? Can you hand sew?

The friends of the Saratoga Hospital are sewing masks to be used by staff in the nursery so that sturdier masks can be saved for infectious patients.  Lucy Manning has connected us with that group; and we UU sewers are planning on making masks starting today.

If you have not been contacted by me already, but know how to sew and would be willing to make some masks, please contact me. You only need cotton material, thread and elastic.  The pattern is on line and I can give you the site.  Elastic is in short supply so you may need to make bias tape from your fabric to use in place of elastic.  Once you get used to the process, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to make a mask.

We are aiming to have a first batch of masks ready by Thursday when Gail Grow will drive to your homes and pick up the masks from your front door/porch.  The masks will then go to Lucy and someone from the hospital will collect them from her.  Since this is an ongoing project at this point, there will be pick up days in the weeks to come also. I have extra material and thread but no elastic.

If you want fabric, contact me.
