All Souls Unitarian Church in Washington, D.C. is hosting a three-day conference in September focused on “Advancing Economic and Climate Justice as a Moral Issue: Building a Movement for a Green New Deal.”

Join us at All Souls Unitarian. After service, a light lunch will be provided. At 1:30, Rev Rob Keithan All Souls Justice minister, will lead programming in grounding our efforts in UU values. We will have a keynote panel discussion led by notable local UUs in the environmental movement. Next, a coalition of UU organizations will have a panel discussion on working together with: UUs Ministry for the Earth, UUs for Social Justice and UUs for a just Economic Community. Next, well have a poster session with Environmental Organizationsallowing a casual time to chat. At 5:30 we will break for dinner at nearby restaurants so we can continue the conversation.
Monday, September 16, 9 AM
Light breakfast: pastries, fruit, yogurt and coffee or tea. Our coalition of UU organizationsUU Ministry for the Earth, UUs for Social Justice and UUs for a Just Economic Community are working to get some of the best experts and most influential speakers on the intersection of environmental and economic justice. Bill McKibben will do a welcome video. Our three UU US Representatives: Ami Bera (who came to our 2017 conference), Judy Chu and Abigail Spanberger have been invited to speak. Washington, DC has a bounty of experts and many are anxious to speak to the UU community.

We will meet in one of the meeting rooms at the Capitol Visitor Center. Between our UU US Representatives and being constituents, we will have a top-notch speaker. At 9:30 we will take stacks of constituent letters written by UUs across the nation and deliver them to Senators offices. In some offices, well have appointments to speak to staff. The staff are trained to be welcoming and listenso this is really fun!
