SUMMARY:Movie night: An Unsettling Force
DESCRIPTION:Join our Social Justice Team for a Dr. King Celebration Weekend
  event! January 19\, 2025 6pm to 7:30pm\n\nIn 1968\, Rev. Dr. Martin Luthe
r King Jr. and many others called for a “revolution of values” in Amer
ica. They sought to build a broad\, fusion movement that could unite poor
and impacted communities across the country. The name they chose for this
movement effort was a direct cry from the underside of history: The Poor P
 eople’s Campaign.\n\nIn 2017\, the Poor People's Campaign: A National Ca
ll for Moral Revival was launched by Bishop William J. Barber and Rev. Liz
Theoharis and other partners to carry on this unfinished work.\n\nAn Unse
ttling Force is a documentary film twenty years in the making about this r
enewed effort to carry on the work that Dr. King called us to do. Filmmake
r Dara Kelly has worked with movement leaders Rev. Theoharis and Bishop Ba
rber throughout those years while the “Poor People’s Campaign: A Natio
nal Call for Moral Revival” evolved. From the first 40 Days of Action th
rough Moral Mondays in 2013 to 2021\, the film tracks the development of t
 his “fusion movement.”\n\n
