General Assembly Goes Virtual

At this year’s fully virtual General Assembly (GA)—Rooted, Inspired, & Ready! — we will explore the power, possibility, purpose, struggle, and joy of finding the path forward together as Unitarian Universalists. GA 2020 is an exciting experiment for all of us and I can’t wait to see you there! Make sure you are registered so you can get the most out of all of the speakers, workshops, and events from June 24 – 28.  Register here: https://www.uua.org/ga/off-site/registrants

Naomi Klein, author of The Shock Doctrine and On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal will be this year’s Ware Lecturer at 6:00 our time on Saturday, June 27. You have to be registered to view the Ware Lecture this year.
Other featured speakers include:

  • the authors of An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United StatesRoxanne Dunbar-Ortiz and Dina Gilio-Whitaker, as well as the co-adapters of the young people’s version, Jean Mendoza & Natalie Martinez
  • Howard Bryant (senior writer for ESPN and NPR Weekend Edition correspondent)
  • Robyn Henderson-Espinoza (Transqueer Activist, Latinx Scholar, and Public Theologian, author of Activist Theology)
  • John Buehrens (former UUA president and author of Conflagration: How the Transcendentalists Sparked the American Struggle for Racial, Gender, and Social Justice)

There will also be, as usual, a glorious myriad of workshops, panels, and programs!  More details here: https://www.uua.org/ga/off-site/registrants
Before GA gets started, members of the Board of Trustees, Commission on Institutional Change, Commission on Social Witness, and the GA Planning Committee are offering a webinar to provide attendees an overview of some of the changes from previous years, as well as information for delegates regarding the business sessions. Whether you’re a first-time delegate or a long-time attendee, you’ll find the help you need and get a sense of what to expect this year.

The way to see me at the end of June is to participate in General Assembly!  I will be away from congregational responsibilities June 17-30 in order to attend to UU Ministry Association professional meetings and programs, as well as UUA General Assembly.  Please text me if you need me as I will not be checking email during this time.

Onward!
Blessings!
Rev. Joe
