Way Forward Task Force Report

The “Way Forward” task force has been charged with making recommendations as we discern our path forward to a post-COVID world. We have met twice and have begun the task of familiarizing ourselves with State, local, denominational and other guidelines and resources on the coronavirus pandemic.

BOT 2020 — Summary of July 6th Board Meeting

-- by Pam Collins, Board President. Our July Board meeting this past Monday followed our first joint on-line worship service with the Schenectady church as our guests and it has to be said, it was a great success.

August Craft Fair – We Need Your Help!

A group of nine of our UUCSS members met via Zoom last Thursday to discuss fundraising ideas. One very popular idea is having a craft fair on Saturday, August 22nd on the lawn in front of the Lawson home. We have figured out how to hold the sale safely (like we did the tomato and perennial sale which made over $1000).

Web Camps Are Here!

The first Web Camp offers are available! Thank you to those who stepped up to lead a group. Below are descriptions of the six camps being offered, dates and times and leader information. Sign up by contacting the leader of the group directly. Camps will be starting mid-July, so don’t wait to sign up. When signing up by email, be sure to put “web camps” in the subject line.

“Unfinished Business: A Study of DuBois’ Reconstruction in America to Now”

2 Remaining Wednesdays: July 1 and July 8. This political education series offered by Side With Love and Love Resists will explore the history of the reconstruction era (post-civil war), to give us a deeper understanding of the origin of today’s systemic racism in policing and mass incarceration as well as the Black-led movements resisting it.

"It might seem like one of our easier monthly themes. After all, compassion sounds…well, nice. It conjures up a bunch of warm feelings. Images come to mind of people telling each other they are keeping them in their thoughts. It would seem to be all about emotional connection and empathetic feeling."

Writing Workshop Update – Room for Two More!

Our Writing Workshop has so far held three meetings in Nan's deck, safely with masks and physically distanced. We have room for two more participants!

GATP for July: New York State Chapter of the Poor People’s Campaign

The Social Justice Team has selected the New York State chapter of the Poor People’s Campaign (https://www.nysppc.org) as the recipient of our Give Away the Plate program for July. The organization works to defeat the evils of systemic racism, poverty, militarism, ecological devastation, and the nation’s distorted morality.

UUCSS Book Group Meeting – July 20

Anyone is welcome at the monthly UUCSS Book Group, which meets on the 3rd Monday of each month throughout the year. During this time of sheltering in place, we meet virtually on Zoom.

Help Make a Civilian Review Board a reality in Saratoga Springs

The UUCSS Board, the Minister and the Social Justice Team, along with several other groups and organizations  have endorsed the creation of a Civilian Review Board in Saratoga Springs.


To help everyone celebrate these local efforts, the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce created a #strongertogether poster for every one of the communities in Saratoga County.
