“The Garden Redux: Revisiting an Old Story”

The creation story that most of us grew up with has a judgmental God commanding Adam and Eve to not eat of a particular fruit. They did eat it, and he banished them from the garden and condemned them to a life of suffering. This was the first “sin,” and since they were our first parents, we also were condemned to live a life of suffering. We were, in fact, born “sinful” as a result of their “original sin.”

Today’s story presents an alternative version of our first “parents,” God, the fruit, and the garden.
