Transgender people often struggle with not being accepted in UU congregations, even those that are officially Welcoming. Often the targets of micro-aggressions, discrimination, and transphobia, transgender folks find it challenging to live authentically even in UU spaces. Albany UU intern minister Dan Miyake shares his story.
Dan hails from Dayton, Ohio, and claims the Miami Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship as his home congregation. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Earlham School of Religion (a Quaker seminary) in Richmond, Indiana. He also holds a Master of Music Education degree, and plays the French horn.
