Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil, Sunday November 24 at 4:00pm

Sunday, November 24 at 4:00
Wilson Chapel, Skidmore College

Transgender Day of Remembrance, or TDOR, is an opportunity for all the members of a community (not just the LGBTQIA+ ones) to grieve for the lost lives of transgender people across the world, and to show support to and share space with trans people here in our own communities. We observe this day in November to highlight the disproportionate amount of violence directed at trans individuals, particularly trans women of color, and to demand action and protection from the community at large—particularly those with a say in governance and legislature. We gather to speak the names of those taken from us, and reflect in silence on the innumerable lost trans lives for which we have no names nor accounts of their passing. It is an event to remember the past, and forge boldly into the future—a future where transgender people can live lives free from scrutiny and political pawndom. We are bodies, souls, lives—and we are not up for debate. 0
