I am proud of this congregation for so many reasons, especially during this quarantine time. One of the things that I’ve been proud of has been the online worship services we’ve been able to put together using Zoom.
One of the things that has become a priority for me and the Worship Team is to increase the number of voices that we hear during a Sunday morning worship service. The members of the Worship Team have been doing some extra readings, and a member of the Care Team reads the joys and sorrows that you submit ahead of time. (Please email your joys and sorrows to us at CareTeam@UUSaratoga.org!) I really enjoyed this past Sunday hearing voices other than mine singing hymns. It was fun mixing together the voices for a version of Spirit of Life.
The Worship Team and I want to encourage even more participation from you! We would like to put together a list of people who would be open to sharing their voices with the rest of the community. We’re not looking for perfection here—we’re looking for connection! (That’s been my mantra for our online worship: Connection, not perfection!) Please email me at RevJoeUUCSS (at) gmail (dot) com and let me know if you, as an individual or as a family—would be willing to —Read our covenant —Say the words for extinguishing our chalice.
If you’re comfortable with trying more than that, we would like to put together a list of people willing to do a reading or a story, too. I miss being with you all in person, and hearing more of your voices on Sunday morning would make that “virtual” time together feel even warmer.
Take good care of yourselves. Treat yourself to some time away from screens and in nature. And be safe, especially as New York State begins to explore what easing some of the current restrictions on gathering might look like.
Love and blessings to you all
