Raising UUC-SS’s visibility
o We’d like to show up as a congregation at one of many ongoing
community activism gatherings to help kindred spirits identify UUC-SS
as a welcoming, progressive haven. Lucy Manning’s gift of golden
scarves and our “Side with Love” t-shirts help UUs stand out in crowds
of friends and allies. Please consider joining us at the next “No Kings”
event on March 28.
Developing resources:
o If enough members and friends express interest, we will join UUA’s
Common Read of Social Change Now: A Guide for Reflection and
Connection by Deepa Iyer. A copy of the book and sign-up sheet will be
available at Sunday services soon.
Last Sunday, Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church (UMC) hosted Draw the
Circle Wide: Unity in Song a concert/sing-along. A large, enthusiastic crowd lifted
our voices in solidarity and support of those who are suffering ICE’s atrocities against
law-abiding immigrants in our country. A host of amazing musicians led us in sacred
and secular songs of love, unity, justice and peaceful resistance. We also heard the
story of a young immigrant family, welcomed into the Newtonville UMC church
family last year. Recently, they were forced to return to their home country as they
sought protected asylum status.
Ongoing: “Post Office Vigils,” Saturdays – Noon to 1:00 p.m. (corners of
Broadway & Lake/Church) Organized by: Indivisible ADK/Saratoga, Linda
LeTendre and other troublemaking neighbors.
As our weather moderates, all are welcome – great vibes from passersby, supportive
honking, and a (rare) loud MAGA pickup. Fine fellowship and furballs. You’ll see a lot
of friends and neighbors, so wear your Yellow/Gold!
Cheers!
