We gather in worship to find meaning and live more deeply. Worship creates connections within, among, and beyond us, calling us to our better selves, calling us to live with wisdom and compassion.

UU worship services are designed to engage both the heart and mind. Our services typically include a blend of readings, music, meditation, and a thought-provoking sermon or reflection. The topics covered are diverse and often address contemporary issues, ethical questions, and personal growth. By attending, you will have the opportunity to reflect on meaningful themes, challenge your perspectives, and deepen your understanding of the world around you.

UUs are deeply committed to social justice and equity. Our worship services often highlight the importance of making a positive impact in the world. We explore ways to address social injustices, environmental challenges, and promote compassion and fairness in our communities. By attending our services, you will join a community that actively seeks to make the world a better place through advocacy, service, and compassionate action.

UU Saratoga values the participation of all ages in our worship services. We believe that spiritual growth is for everyone, from the youngest child to the oldest adult. Our services include elements that are engaging for children and youth, and we offer religious education programs that foster moral development and a sense of social responsibility. Families are encouraged to worship together, creating a shared spiritual experience that strengthens family bonds.

After the service, we invite you to join our coffee hour, where you can engage in conversations, build relationships, and find a sense of belonging.

Our congregation’s worship is relaxed, joyful, and organic.  We have an accomplished pianist who plays Bach to Broadway and beyond, and we have a singing Minister who also plays guitar and even the banjo.

Elements of a typical Unitarian Universalist Sunday morning worship service include:

  • Words of welcome
  • Lighting a flaming chalice, the symbol of our faith
  • A multigenerational segment, such as a “story for all ages”
  • Music, both instrumental and vocal and in a variety of styles
  • A time for lifting up the joys and concerns of the congregation
  • A meditation or prayer
  • Readings—ancient or contemporary
  • A sermon given by a professional minister, a guest speaker, or a member of the congregation
  • An offering, collecting financial donations for the congregation or for justice work in the community.

From time to time, worship services incorporate holiday celebrations, multigenerational plays and pageants, longer musical performances, child dedications, and coming-of-age ceremonies. We offer childcare and learning programs for children and youth during the Sunday service.

Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. Our worship services offer a space for contemplation, inspiration, and connection with the sacred. Whether through meditation, prayer, or communal singing, you will find opportunities to nurture your spirit and cultivate a sense of peace and fulfillment. Our services encourage personal reflection and provide tools for navigating life’s challenges with resilience and grace.

Regardless of your background, beliefs, or identity, you will find a warm and accepting community. Our services create a space where you can be your true self and explore your spirituality without fear of judgment.
